Our country was independence on August 15, 1947 and our constitution was formed on January 26, 1950.India is multi-religious country.India has been divided in many states.India was divided on the basis of language, the first state was Andhra Pradesh. It is the seventh largest country by area and the second most population country in the world.List of 28 States, 9 Union Territories and Their Capitals in India.
Before 5 August ,2019 India had 29 States and 7 Union Territories.According to the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act, 2019, the appointed day for the two Union Territories J&K and Ladakh was October 31. This is for the first time that a state is converted into two Union Territories. The total number of states in the country will now be 28 while the total Union Territories will go up to 9.
